Gerry Mulvaney, European Sales Manager, Landa Digital Printing
When I told my wife I was going to write a blog for Landa, she suggested that my career was a bit like a Steve Jobs presentation – every time she thought “that was it”, there would always be “just one more thing…”.
In 2011 I was, rather reluctantly, winding down a career in print that started in 1973. But then my retirement plans were put on hold again by a call from a Landa insider asking if I was free to do “just one more thing…”. It involved being part of a team of “grey-haired” sales people to help launch Benny Landa’s revolutionary new technology. I couldn’t resist. The golf clubs went back into the cellar and retirement was put on hold – again.
2012 with Landa has been one of the most exciting times in my career. Now I have been asked to write this Landa blog and share with you the experience, progress and impact of introducing Nanographic Printing® to the commercial, publishing and packaging industries.
First though, let me share with you a bit about myself. I enjoyed a long career in the printing industry, nearly forty years, including a spell as an Executive Director of a UK listed company, Chairman of a European distributor group, board member of IPEX founders of Picon, and the running of a production print sales team for a UK office printer distributor. I have also written regularly in trade magazines in Europe and the USA. I currently write for GraphicDisplayWorld.com and appear as a correspondent on PrintMonthlyTV.com.
Oh, and “just one more thing…” apart from this blog – before I retire I will be looking after Landa’s customers in Europe. In future months I want to tell you about the progress we are making towards putting the first presses into the market at the end of this year, and I want to share with you the thoughts of colleagues, customers and partners on all things Nanography®.
With Benny’s enthusiastic comeback for a second digital printing revolution, I am in good company. For him too there is “just one last thing…”.
