Inkjet print technology, which was initially developed for addressing, coding and lottery applications, has had substantial growth during its 40-year history. The immediate and ongoing appeal of inkjet technology has been its water-based ink. As many inkjet inks used no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or hydrocarbon based solvents, they were also embraced for their environmental advantages.
The debate among print providers is building in intensity. Which technology will break through the barriers that have held digital printing to niche player status in the printing arena?
If you were to use the word “technology” in a sentence, you’d most likely attach words like “new, latest, cutting edge, or state-of-the-art.” If you were talking about print technology, however, that wouldn’t necessarily be the case.
