Nanography® – Redefining High Speed Digital Printing

Tuesday, 24 December 2013 | By Bob Boucher

We’ve all heard claims that digital presses are “fast.” Of course, “fast” is a relative term. Digital press manufacturers who cite their models’ rapid throughput rates are usually comparing them to other digital devices.

It’s a simple fact: in the arena of digital print production, no other digital sheetfed device approaches the speed of the Landa Nanographic Printing® Presses. The disparity with other digital devices is so significant that Nanography® speed is actually more appropriately compared with that of offset.

Fulfilling 50% of all print jobs

At demonstrated print speeds of 13,000 sheets per hour (6,500 duplex), sheetfed Landa S10 Nanographic Printing® Presses are the first digital devices to offer the output and productivity for mainstream applications.

With a crossover point of about 5,000 sheets, Landa Nanographic Printing® Presses address nearly 50% of all print jobs. Its fast output capabilities reach an even higher crossover point when you gang jobs or add variable barcodes.

Used for commercial printing and folding carton applications, a Landa Nanographic Printing® Press reaches similar output performance. In fact, the press can operate side by side with offset equipment – no special rooms, environments, or even operator expertise is required. (Can any other digital press make such a claim?)

Efficient digital printing: Supports B1 Formats and Off-The-Shelf Media

The productivity of Landa S10 Nanographic Printing® Presses is increased via its support for B1 (41 in. 1,050 mm) format substrates – twice the size supported by other digital presses. Another unique feature of the Landa S10 Nanographic Printing® Press is its ability to print on any off-the-shelf media – without priming, coating or post-drying.

The media flexibility of the Landa S10C Nanographic Printing® Press for commercial printing is also replicated in the Landa S10FC Nanographic Printing® Press for folding cartons. It runs the same films, plastics, label, and carton board used by traditional lithographic and other packaging devices.

An intuitive touchscreen operating “cockpit” on the Landa S10 Nanographic Printing® Press presents key data and status reports at a glance – further improving total end-to-end productivity.

Breaking Speed Barriers with Efficient Fast Digital Printing TechnologyUnlike other digital devices, Landa Nanographic Printing® Presses eject ink onto a blanket and transfer a dry image onto the substrate. The ground-breaking high speed digital printing process requires less energy and no time is lost to drying wet media. The process also offers the efficiency of unlimited area coverage, unlike digital competitors.

Landa NanoInk® – Nano-Sized Pigments Produce Higher Quality More Quickly

Landa Nanography® is based on nanotechnology – the science of ultra-small particles that has gained widespread global attention for numerous applications. That’s because particles measured in nanometers, or billionths of a meter, present extraordinary qualities.

Landa NanoInk® mixtures are composed of nano-sized pigments that have proven to be amazingly powerful colorants that produce extraordinary quality and page to page consistency.

Primed to Replace Offset Production

With a combination of high-speed printing throughput and innovative Landa NanoInk® colorants, Nanography® produces the lowest cost-per-page among digital presses – and is capable of replacing offset page production for small- to medium-sized run-lengths. It’s a fast-moving revolution in the cause of improving print profitability.
